The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) – being part of the EU-funded THETIDA project – is currently participating in the underwater excavation of the Nissia shipwreck, directed by Dr Stella Demesticha of the Maritime Archaeological Research Laboratory of the University of Cyprus.
The aim of the programme is to safeguard and protect coastal and underwater cultural heritage from the effects of climate change and natural hazards.
